Painting Silks - Silk Technique


USING SILK PINS, ATTACH THE WHITE PONCHO TO A FRAME MADE BY YOUR HUSBAND.  SKETCH OUT DESIRED DESIGN WITH PEN OR PENCIL AND THEN WAX THE LINES

USING SILK PAINT COLOR SILK LIKE A COLORING BOOK

FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT SPRINKLE COARSE SALT OVER WET PAINT OR SPRITZ ALCOHOL

BLENDING COLORS HAVE TO BE DONE IMMEDIATELY - DON'T LET THE PAINT DRY

I PAINT STRAIGHT FROM THE SMALL BOTTLE AND PREFER NOT TO WASH MY BRUSH

REMOVE PINS AND PAINT BORDER WITH SILK LAYING ON TARP

LET DRY, BRUSH OFF SALT

WRAP SILK WITH WHITE NEWSPRINT, DO NOT LET ANY SURFACE TOUCH ANOTHER
FOLD IT AND TAPE EVERY FREE EDGE WITH MASKING TAPE

ROLL NTO MANAGEABLE SHAPE.  WRAP IT WITH HEAVY-DUTY FOIL AND PUT IN PRESSURE COOKER WITH ONE  INCH OF WATER ON AN INCH AND A HALF HIGH MESH PLATFORM WITH THE FOIL SEAMS ON TOP

SET TO HIGH BUT WHEN THE WATER BEGINS TO BOIL, TURN HEAT DOWN TO LOW AND COVER SECURELY

LET PRESSURE COOK FOR 45 MINUTES WITH THE KNOB AT 5 POUNDS
THEN TAKE FOIL OFF AND RINSE UNTIL WATER RUNS CLEAR, THEN IRON
