As I approach my 70th year of life, I find myself musing on the artistic footprint I will leave behind on this earth. In an effort to compress my lifetime production of trivial ephemera, I decided on this blog. My endeavors are categorized into four sections: Pennings (4 volumes entitled “Around the World in 40 Years”), Paintings (silks, pastels, watercolors and acrylics), Portraits (of family and friends), and Pastimes (massive amounts of et cetera). PENNINGS: Around the World in Forty Years: Volume IV: Fabulous Final Five Years

These books, Volumes I, II, III and IV of “Around the World in Forty Years,” are a chronicle of 40 years (1970-2010) of traveling to 53 countries and making 40 trips to Mexico. They are filled with the history, personal experiences and tidbits of each country, including more than 250 color photos, followed by easy-to-prepare recipes for a five-course meal inspired by the region (be sure to read the titles of the dishes as they correspond with the countries).

In Volume IV, “Fabulous Final Five Years,” from 2005 to 2010, we traveled to: Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Japan, and the Mexican States of Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Estado de Mexico, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, and Vera Cruz. There is also a section “On the Trail of the Grand Masters” chronicling my passion for collecting Mexican folk art from the source.
